A Day Late & A Dollar Short?
I’ve been told by several of you how you thought I was sick in the head for having a CEC birthday party for the kiddo. Well, for your information, I actually love it there. Call me nuts, but I’m a sucker for putting coins into machines that spit out tickets. Yes, you trade these in for really generic (and cheap) Chinese made plasticrap, but you get tickets! I know. I’m really five. I refuse to grow up. And, did I mention I’m a whiz at Skee Ball? Cause I am
Now, Puppy, as the oldest of such a big family, quite literally never had a birthday party with friends. One of his brothers has a birthday the day before his, so even with the family party he had to share the cake. You shoulda seen him in action. He and the tyke ran around like banshees for hours. I think he had a better time than the birthday boy.
I know I’m horribly late in putting these up, but if you remember we’ve given up paci. It’s been a bit rough today. While doing a little research on the assmunch collection agency from my identity theft, the small and angelic boy child emptied all of his toys into a pile in the playroom. Puzzles dumped out (try 5), games dumped (try 3), toys, trains (Thomas & all his cronies), EVERYTHING. I am kicking myself for not taking a picture now, because the first thing that flashed in my brain was the mashed potatoes creation from Close Encounters. After pondering premeditated murder of a small offspring, realizing I live in a state that is fry now, fry later, then drowning my sorrows in a bowl of Special K and a glass of wine, it dawned on me I’d never put up the pictures. I apologize for my tardiness.
And, I’m ready for the jon jon smack talk. Have at it!

What an absolutely beautiful child. Happy Birthday, SD!

dear lord I didn’t know they made jon jon’s that large.
April 9, 2008 at 8:49 pm
Hey, look at that! Random Mommy said my line for me! Thanks!
OK, on another note, the fact that you have been celebrating SD’s birthday for approximately two solid years has left me not knowing exactly when it is that he actually turns 3. So, um, when should I scream Happy Birthday? I’m sorry I’m a loser and had to ask.
Finally, yay! for having a fun birthday! Way to go, Mom!

Since I’m one of those who thinks you are crazy, I must admit it looks like you had fun.
Hope the paci situation is improving.

Wow - dungarees with Happy 3rd Birthday emboidered on? Also like your Spotty top. He is brave to get that close to Chuck E Cheese himself as that rat freaks so many kids out!!

Happy 3rd Birthday to the little guy!!
I’m laughing for a few reasons right now…I love CEC too and my favorite is Skee Ball! I feel totally accomplished at my ticketing skills. Very proud of that. And mostly because my engineer hubby has that SAME shirt yours does. Totally. Hilarious.
And I love the personalized overalls!
April 10, 2008 at 9:46 am
I’m with you. And if I see a kid leave their ticket in the machine, I don’t tell them.. I wait for them to walk away and then I snatch it for my very own.
Oh and did I mention I think their pizza is the bomb!!

After having birthdays at CEC - and just recently at this cool Bounce place by my house - I have decided these are the places to have parties. Want to know why? Minimal work required by the parents. You show up, dish out some cash and the kids have a ball and think it was the BEST PARTY EVER. No clean-up afterwards (or before). Easy. Yeah, CEC is loud and crazy, but sooooo much easier on the parent stress level.

Wow, very cool clothes for the well dressed Master AFF. I’m not sure if the boy was having as much fun as the parents….
Here’s hoping the paci situation is at least getting better!

Yay for CEC. I like CEC. I want MY next birthday at CEC. Of course, my wife wonders why ANYONE would want to celebrate their 63rd birthday there, but like I tell her - PIZZA!!! And that thing with the monkeys and the hammer.
April 10, 2008 at 1:31 pm
Oh cute pictures!!
Special K and wine - yum!
April 10, 2008 at 2:46 pm
Great pictures!
So, how’s the paci war going?
April 10, 2008 at 2:51 pm
Strangely, I’ve never thought to combine cereal with a glass of wine. Interesting combination.
And we did a CEC birthday for my oldest for his 3rd birthday, too. Of course, that was almost 12 years ago.
Oh wow. Um, it just hit me how stinkin’ old my kids are getting.
I’m going to go curl up in a ball and cry now.
April 10, 2008 at 2:53 pm
I can’t believe he high-fived CEC! My oldest wouldn’t get near him until she was 4!
I’m glad the boys had a good time!
April 10, 2008 at 3:01 pm
Oh I just love it. He gets cuter in each picture and I ADORE his outfit. What a blast!
April 10, 2008 at 3:49 pm
Looks like he (and everyone!) had a blast. And I just love his birthday jumper

Happy Birthday SD looks like you had a wonderful time!
I adore the dungarees where on earth did you get them?
April 10, 2008 at 4:16 pm
Looks like fun! He is just so cute.
April 10, 2008 at 4:35 pm
Aww!! Looks like he had fun!! I think it’s great that you love CEC…. I personally think that place is the gates of hell! I do love skeeball though!
April 10, 2008 at 4:46 pm
Looks like fun, maybe someday I’ll try one of those parties but for now I happily avoid CEC.
April 10, 2008 at 7:08 pm
Looks like so much fun! Happy 3rd, SD!!
I too am a whiz at skee ball. I smell a challenge coming on!
April 10, 2008 at 7:33 pm
Looks like he had a great time!
April 10, 2008 at 8:41 pm
I think that’s awesome. We’ve gone to CEC in the past and my kids have always had a ball. You go, Mama!
April 11, 2008 at 10:16 am
You’re not alone. We lived across the street from CEC and went every week. Now that we’ve moved, I still crave their pizza…and hot wings. I need help
Love those photos! The cake pic is adorable, and you look fabulous in the polka dot top!
April 11, 2008 at 10:53 am
Looks like a happy birthday boy and momma. I love the tickets too….I guess you never really grow up. Hope the paci giveaway is going better.
April 11, 2008 at 11:23 pm
I’ll ignore the jon-jons. He’s a doll!! I also love Chuck E. Cheese. I get to play skee ball and shoot hoops. And there’s beer. And pizza. It helps muffle the noise.
April 12, 2008 at 9:21 am
I, also, happily avoid the Cheese.
But good for you.
April 12, 2008 at 6:34 pm
We had the Kid’s Bday party at CEC last summer for his 3rd too!! It was wonderful! We were selling our house, so the no stress party was fab-u-lous!
For his 4th bday this year he wants a Hawaii party. haha
April 12, 2008 at 6:46 pm
LOVE his overalls.
You guys are SUCH a cute family. How adorable are you? MWAH!
April 12, 2008 at 7:35 pm
Skee ball rules! Great pictures, he looks like he had a good time and that is all that matters!
April 15, 2008 at 8:01 pm
Actually, we love CEC too. Only when it’s not crowded. The place yes, the patrons not so much. It’s all in the timing.
And I am shocked and appalled that he is not wearing a Rocking Pony birthday shirt. Girl, you’ve gotta get with the program.
